BMW Thief Busted After Reversing Into Cop Car, Driving Off and Hitting Another: NYPD

A 20-year-old Queens man has been arrested on a litany of charges, including assault on a police officer, grand larceny, possession of stolen property and other crimes for allegedly reversing a stolen BMW into an unmarked cop car — and then fleeing the scene and slamming into another unmarked police vehicle, police said Friday.

Nicholas Deosaran also faces motor vehicle offenses, including driving without a license, in the chaos that unfolded near Merrick and Baisley boulevards in St. Albans around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, officers were the Queens South Auto Larceny Unit were conducting an operation in that area when they identified a stolen 2011 BMW. Deosaran was allegedly behind the wheel. Cops say he put the vehicle into reverse and collided with the front of an unmarked car, then drove off and hit a second unmarked police car.

One officer was in the first vehicle and three were in the second, police said. All four officers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Deosaran had been in the BMW with a woman who was initially also taken into custody but later released. It was clear if Deosaran had an attorney.

The investigation is ongoing.
