White Plains authorities are investigating after a newborn was found abandoned in a grocery store restroom.
Police were called early Sunday morning to the ShopRite in the City Center shopping complex after the infant was found in a women’s room.
Officers rushed the baby to White Plains Hospital, where the child is recovering, according to officials.
As the investigation continues, police reminded the public about New York state’s “Safe Haven” law, which is designed to prevent tragedies.
Under the law, an infant less than 30 days old can be left at a “safe haven” location, including a hospital, police station or fire station, or with an appropriate person.
