A Delta flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport en route to Phoenix, Arizona, had to make an emergency landing back in Queens Thursday because of a cabin pressurization issue, according to the airline.
DL791, a Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 155 passengers and six crew members aboard, returned to JFK around 10:30 a.m. after flight staff declared an emergency to get priority handling by air traffic control.
Officials say the aircraft taxied normally to its gate, where maintenance crews were set to evaluate it. No injuries were reported.
Delta released a statement confirming the incident.
“The flight crew of Delta Flight 791 from New York-JFK to Phoenix followed standard procedures and returned to JFK following a cabin pressurization issue,” the airline said. “The flight landed safely, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels.”
The plane was bound for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Delta says it’s working with customers to get them to their final destinations.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it is investigating.
