Google's top trending Halloween costumes feature ‘Buddy,' ‘Obsession' and more

Halloween will have a Hollywood feel this year.

Google unveiled its top trending costume searches for 2026, and the list features characters from some of the year’s biggest movies.

Buddy the Unicorn came in at No. 1. The mascot from Casper Kelly’s horror film “Buddy,” which opened in theaters at the end of August, helped “Buddy unicorn costume” overtake “kids unicorn costume” on Google for the first time.

NeeDoh, a popular squishy toy, snagged the No. 2 spot, but the next two went right back to movie characters. Nikki from the horror hit “Obsession” was No. 3 and Agamemnon from Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” claimed No. 4.

Google based its rankings on search terms that saw the biggest spikes ahead of Halloween, painting a picture of which characters, items and videos games were at the center of culture in 2026.

On top of top trending costumes, Google also unveiled lists for the top kid costumes, pet costumes and duo costumes. The late Dolly Parton headlined the lineup of kid costumes, a centipede led the list for pets and disco Scooby and Shaggy from “Scooby-Doo” was first among duo costumes.
