Benjamin Karl tears away clothes in shirtless PGS gold medal celebration

A gold medal reaction went viral Sunday after a defending Olympian secured his spot atop the podium once again.

Austria’s Benjamin Karl became the oldest individual gold medalist in Winter Olympic history after winning gold again in the parallel giant slalom event. He’s 40 years old (and 115 days).

He won the same event four years ago at the Beijing Games.

Sunday’s race was a nailbiter. Karl beat South Korea’s Kim Sang-Kyum by only 0.19 seconds.

After turning in a gold medal performance, the snowboarder tore away several layers of clothing (remember it’s the Winter Olympics after all) for a shirtless celebration. Watch Karl’s run and celebration below.
