A man armed with a knife stabbed and slashed three people — including his own father — outside a Queens home after getting into an argument with a neighbor about a dog urinating on the lawn, according to police sources.
The incident began just before 11 a.m. Thursday on 229th Street in the Laurelton neighborhood, police said, as a woman took her dog outside. The French bulldog then urinated on the neighbor’s lawn, according to police sources, sparking the chain of events.
The 34-year-old neighbor and his 62-year-old father came out of their house to confront the woman, leading to an argument. Surveillance video captured the argument happening from a distance. At one point, a man in red shorts and another man in a white shirt can be seen apparently urinating on a lawn.
Chaos erupted soon after. The suspect soon after took out a knife and stabbed the woman in the back, according to police sources.
Her partner came out to intervene, and he got stabbed in the back as well, sources told NBC New York. During the attack, the man armed with the knife accidentally slashed his own father in the arm, according to police sources.
Each of the individuals injured was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where they were expected to recover, police said. The suspect had cuts to his hand, face and head as well, but he was not seriously hurt.
The dog was not hurt and was taken away by a family member. A bloody scene was left in the wake of the attack, with blood spilled on the sidewalk and the steps leading up to a house.
A knife was recovered at the scene.
There was no immediate word of what charges the suspect might face, though he was taken into custody. An investigation is ongoing.
