Mayor Zohran Mamdani is expected to welcome President Donald Trump to Grace Mansion on Monday, the mayor’s office announced on Sunday.
The specifics of the meeting were not clear, but a spokesperson for the mayor said it would “focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers.”
Mamdani and Trump have met face-to-face twice before, both times at the White House. Monday’s meeting would be the first between both leaders in New York City.
The mayor of New York City has previously traveled down to Washington on two occasions, the first in November last year before officially taking office, and then again in February.
The two have struct a warm public relationship, a rare dynamic not seen between Trump and many of the country’s other prominent Democrats. But neither has shied away from delivering public criticisms of the other.
Trump’s trip coincides with the United Nations General Assembly, which brings dignitaries from around the world to midtown Manhattan for several weeks.
